The Gender Equality Coalition of Ontario (GECO) was founded in 2019 to work to establish communities where all individuals have equal access to every opportunity, unbiased by gender.
Community representation is essential in the collaborative efforts towards gender justice. We believe that gender justice can only be achieved when all intersectional genders are included. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, valuing individuals from all intersectionalities - all genders, cultures, ages, races, orientations, locations, and abilities.

Who are we?
The Gender Equality Coalition of Ontario (GECO) brings people together to advance gender justice through education, advocacy, and community action.
We are a community of activists, educators, and allies working to end sexism and challenge the systems that sustain inequality. We welcome men, women, and gender-expansive people into this shared work.
Our approach is intersectional: we recognize that gender inequality is connected to racism, colonialism, class inequality, ableism, homophobia, and transphobia. We work to amplify voices too often excluded and build communities where everyone can participate, belong, and thrive.
Together, we listen, learn, and act for change.
We turn our commitment to gender justice into action through education, engagement, connection, and advocacy.
Educate. We create resources, workshops, and conversations that help people recognize sexism, understand intersecting inequalities, and take action in their workplaces and communities.
Engage. We invite people to become active participants in gender justice through volunteering, campaigns, community projects, and collective action.
Connect. We bring people together through community programs, events, and partnerships that build belonging, strengthen solidarity, and amplify voices too often excluded.
Advocate. We challenge discriminatory practices and advocate for policies that advance gender equality and address systemic barriers.

What do we do?
Events
Change doesn’t happens in isolation. It happens within the context of a larger community. We engage in, collaborate with, and host a variety of diverse events - from speaking at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in NYC (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025) to hosting conferences on radical feminism to our virtual monthly Speaker Series.
